Check the evidence

Answers use a dated publication of Propel’s public records. Open Sources on an answer to check its publication date and linked records. Coverage can be incomplete: an unrecorded round is not evidence that a company has never raised funding.

Browse the startup directory or investor directory to explore the underlying profiles.

Using Ask Propel

What can I ask?

Ask about African startups, investors, recorded funding and funding terminology. You can explore a company, follow its backers, compare recorded activity or narrow a directory by market and sector.

What does “top” or “most active” mean?

Choose a recorded measure, such as disclosed eligible funding or round participations. These rankings describe the selected records and period; they are not a judgement of company quality or an investor’s future intentions.

Are funding and acquisition values the same?

No. Equity and debt financing, acquisitions and other recorded deal activity have different meanings. Check the answer’s scope and the profile’s funding and deal history before comparing figures.

How do I check an answer?

Open Sources, check the publication date and follow the linked profiles. Undisclosed amounts and missing records limit what can be concluded. For a possible error, use Contact to request a correction.
