A closer look at agriculture and food
Agriculture and food startups raised $11.5 million between July and September 2026, down from $38.8 million in the second quarter, with no single round above $4 million. That is the sector's usual shape: many small cheques, often from development funders and programmes, rather than a few large ones.
The bigger rounds come as debt or blended packages. East Africa Foods in Tanzania raised a package of about $40 million in October 2026, including a $26 million Series B led by InfraCo Africa, and Apollo Agriculture closed a $2.1 million local-currency securitisation in Kenya. Development funders such as DEG and the EDFI facilities appear in our records far more often than venture funds. Our Q3 report has the full picture.
What does this page cover?
Companies match the recorded Agriculture & Food sector. Country does not imply incorporation, founder nationality or every market served. Counts include the financing types recorded by Propel, including equity, debt and grants. Unknown amounts are not zero. Dates retain their recorded precision. This is not a complete market census.
Listings follow Propel’s current public records. The dated context is editorial background, not a live market total. Secondary share sales are excluded from recorded funding here. Named backers are recorded participants; their inclusion does not identify them as the lead investor.
