Disrupt Africa reported on 6 November that WildyNess has raised a strategic pre-seed round. The Bridging Angels network and the African Diaspora Network co-led it. The amount was not disclosed.
What the company does
WildyNess operates a sustainable tourism marketplace for business-to-consumer and business-to-business-to-consumer experiences, including Community-Based Tourism. It links conscious travellers with curated experiences co-created with local micro-businesses. Engineers Achraf Aouadi and Rym Bourguib founded the company in 2021 and launched the platform in 2022. It is based in Tunis. Co-founder Achraf Aouadi said that generating US$300,000 in organic sales "proves that travellers are desperately seeking real connections".
Traction and plans
The company says it has generated over $300,000 in sales since launch without any paid marketing spend. The company currently operates in North Africa. The funding will support expansion from Tunisia into Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE, along with improvements to its technology platform.
