Weego, a Moroccan-Senegalese mobility startup, has raised $1.1 million from Azur Innovation Fund, TechCabal reported on 3 March. Azur, an early-stage venture capital fund, led the round.

A single app for city transport

Weego builds a multimodal transport platform that connects public and private transport services. Its app brings buses, trams, taxis and private transport into one interface, with real-time trip planning and tracking. The company also offers transport management tools for employers.

Founders

Saad Jittou and Mor Niane founded Weego in 2020. Jittou is co-founder and CEO. He said: "Transportation is the primary obstacle to economic activity in our cities." Casablanca ranks eighth among the most congested cities in Africa, according to Numbeo data. Adnane Filali, Managing Partner at Azur Innovation Fund, spoke in support of the investment.

How the money will be used

Weego plans to expand across Moroccan cities, strengthen its business-focused transport offering and prepare for regional growth. The company's longer-term ambitions cover Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
