Völz, an Algerian online travel agency, has raised 600 million Algerian dinars, about $5 million, Launch Base Africa reported on 12 December 2025. Tell Group, an investment firm active in the region, led the round, and Groupe Industriel Babahoum Algérie (GIBA), a Biskra-based conglomerate known for its Guedila mineral water brand, co-invested. Launch Base Africa describes the round as led by private local investors.
What Völz does
Founded in 2022 by Mohamed Abdelhadi Mezi and Hacene Seghier, Völz lets Algerians book flights on international carriers and pay in Algerian dinars. It also offers cash on delivery. The company is based in Algiers and Mezi is chief executive. It has a partnership with Turkish Airlines that gives it corporate rates and access to the airline's corporate partner programme.
Algerian Startup Fund exit
The deal gave the state-backed Algerian Startup Fund its first successful exit, with a 3.35x return on its initial investment in Völz.
Plans
Völz will automate backend processes, reduce booking errors and expand its technical team. Mezi said: "It positions us to become the first Algerian unicorn in this field in Africa."
