Tuteria, a Nigerian tutoring marketplace, has raised $2.6 million in new funding, Launchbase Africa reported on 26 January. Enza Capital and Chui Ventures, both described as specialist Africa-focused funds, led the round.

What Tuteria does

The Lagos-based company connects students with verified tutors across more than 450 subjects. Verification covers ID checks, competency tests and qualification audits. Tuteria takes a commission of 15% to 30% per lesson. It was founded in 2015 by Godwin Benson, who is CEO, and Abiola Oyeniyi.

Focus and track record

The company concentrates on high-stakes exams such as UTME 2026, IELTS and GMAT. Earlier recognition includes the UK Royal Academy of Engineering's Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation in 2017, which carried a $32,000 prize, and Facebook's Internet.org education challenge in 2016.

A contrast with Edukoya

Launchbase Africa sets Tuteria against Edukoya, which raised a record $3.5 million pre-seed round in 2021 and announced early in 2025 that it was winding down.
