Tagaddod has raised a $26.3 million Series A led by The Arab Energy Fund (TAEF), Wamda reported on 6 October. FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, took part in the round. Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures (VKAV) and A15 Ventures also participated, and early investors reinvested.
What Tagaddod does
The Egypt-based company runs a technology platform that collects, aggregates and traces renewable, waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil, acid oils and animal fats. These go to producers of biofuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Nour El Assal, co-founder and chief executive, and Ahmed ElFarnawany, co-founder and chief financial officer, started the company in 2013. It sources from thousands of suppliers.
Where it operates
Tagaddod has regional hubs in Egypt, Jordan and the Netherlands, and a growing presence in Saudi Arabia and other markets across Africa, Asia and Europe.
What the money is for
The company plans to expand into existing and new markets, upgrade its technology with AI-driven logistics, predictive analytics and automated traceability, and build infrastructure and partnerships to handle larger volumes of certified feedstocks. It also wants to strengthen its long-term position in the global biofuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuel market.
