Sinai.ai has closed a $1.45 million pre-seed round, Wamda reported on 21 April. Kaust Innovation Ventures (KIV) and Disruptech Ventures led the round. Maza Ventures, YOUXEL Ventures and angel investors also took part.

What Sinai.ai does

Sinai.ai describes itself as an adaptive reading platform that turns books into interactive experiences. Its aiBook format lets readers chat with a book in real time, generate study guides and quizzes, read in several languages, switch between reading and listening, and visualise ideas. The company says it licenses full-text content directly from publishers. It is based in Egypt, and Wamda cites a global book market worth more than $150 billion.

Team and traction

Five people founded the company in 2024: Ahmed Kamel, Mohamed Elshamy, Mohamed Elshenawy, Hana Malhas and Abdullah Moatasem. Kamel is co-founder and CEO. Sinai.ai is launching with thousands of titles and has partnerships with double-digit numbers of publishers.

Plans for the funds

The money will go to proprietary technology, AI infrastructure, user acquisition and licensing. Mohamed Okasha of DisrupTech Ventures said: "We strongly believe that AI will fundamentally reshape a wide range of industries".
