Sehatech has closed a $1.1 million seed round led by Ingressive Capital, Wamda reported on 20 October. Plus VC participated, as did strategic angel investors and an unnamed industry veteran. Existing backers A15 and Beltone Venture Capital also took part. Total funding to date stands at $2 million.

What Sehatech does

The company builds an AI-driven platform that automates health insurance administration, including medical approvals, claims processing and payments. The platform pairs AI with a rule-based engine to streamline workflows, and the founders hope to raise low health insurance penetration in Egypt and the wider region. It targets operational inefficiencies between insurers and healthcare providers, as well as fraud and abuse. The Egypt-based company was founded in 2022 by Mostafa Tarek, Mohamed Elshabrawy and Omar Shawky. Mohamed Elshabrawy is founder and chief executive.

Where it operates

Its markets are Egypt, the broader region and other emerging markets.

What the money is for

The seed funding will be used to expand the team, grow regionally and develop more advanced AI and automation tools for insurance processing.
