REasy has raised $1.8 million in a pre-seed round, Innovation Village reported on 9 October. Backers include Launch Africa, 54 Collective, Ingressive Capital, Digital Africa Ventures, Cameroon Angels Network, Dakar Network Angels and Techmind, plus several international business angels.

What REasy does

The company builds payment tools for small and medium-sized African importers. It connects local methods such as Mobile Money, bank transfers and cash deposits with global options including Alipay, WeChat Pay, UnionPay International and wire transfers, so suppliers can receive funds in the way they prefer. The company says thousands of importers already use its platform.

Regulatory groundwork

REasy operates in Central Africa under a foreign exchange framework co-designed with the Bank of Central African States. The framework allows compliant, instant international payments, including for amounts below $10,000.

What the money is for

The company plans to expand beyond its region and offer payouts across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Funds will also go towards upgrading its technology, strengthening regulatory foundations, adding integrations with financial institutions and regulators, improving risk and compliance tools, automating onboarding and improving merchant dashboards.
