Points Africa, a Ghana-based loyalty network, has raised $2 million from early-stage venture firm VestedWorld, TechCabal reported on 17 February.
A shared reward currency
Points Africa is building what it calls Sub-Saharan Africa's first shared loyalty network, in which several merchants issue and redeem a single reward currency. Partners fund the value of the points they allocate, and the company earns a margin on points issued and redeemed through its network. Andrew McBarnett and Don Cochrane lead the company, and Leandro Torres is chief operating officer.
Traction in Ghana
The company launched in Ghana in December 2025. Its partners there include MTN, Jumia, Uber, Melcom, Star Oil and Access Bank. McBarnett said: "We want to be the wallet of Africa concerning loyalty."
Where the money goes
The funding will pay for the Ghana rollout, stronger infrastructure and expansion into new African markets over the next 18 months. The planned markets are Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya.
