Lua, a startup building an AI agent platform, has raised a $5.8 million Seed round led by Norrsken22, Tech-ish reported on 20 April. Flourish Ventures, 20VC, P1 Ventures, Phosphor Capital and Y Combinator took part. Angel investors included Henri Stern of Privy, Kaz Nejatian of Opendoor and Med Benmansour of Nuitee.

What Lua does

Lua calls its product an operating system for companies that run human and AI teams together. Banks, lenders and insurers can deploy AI workers for tasks such as customer onboarding, loan processing and insurance workflows. Agents hand work to a person when judgement is needed and resume once it is done. Developers use a command line interface, while non-technical staff can use a visual interface or natural language. In the words of CEO Lorcan O'Cathain, "teams own their agents, own their outcomes."

Traction

Revenue reportedly grew close to 30% week on week after the October 2025 launch, though from a small base. Early customers include Turaco, Numida, Umba and Tushop.

Plans

The funding will go to expanding the developer community and growing the Lua Implementation Network, a group of partners that deploy the platform for clients in their home markets. The company plans to expand across Kenya, the US, Europe and Asia.
