Littlefish, a South African company building software for small businesses, has raised a $9.5 million Series A, TechCabal reported on 24 March. Partech Africa led the round and Proparco participated. TLCom Capital and Flourish Ventures returned as existing backers. Littlefish closed a seed round a year earlier with the same core investors.
One platform for small businesses
Littlefish offers a unified platform that combines point of sale, back-office CRM, merchant portals, payments and APIs, so small businesses do not have to juggle several tools. It sells through financial institutions as white-labelled software, which lets those institutions keep the customer relationship. In South Africa it works with Standard Bank, First National Bank and Absa.
Founders
Brandon Roberts is co-founder and CEO, and Neha Kumar is co-founder. The company was founded in Johannesburg in 2021. Roberts said: "The little guys deserve world-class financial infrastructure, too, and we're building it."
Where the money goes
Littlefish will grow its team, speed up product development and deepen its footprint in South Africa. It also plans to expand into more than ten African markets, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
