Laboratories Adeba has raised $200,000, ImpactAlpha reported on 25 May. Barka Capital, a climate impact fund based in New York and Côte d'Ivoire, took part in the funding round. So did Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations de Côte d’Ivoire Capital (CDC-CI Capital), the venture capital and small business investment arm of Côte d'Ivoire's public finance agency.

What Adeba does

Adeba makes organic skin and haircare products from its base in Abidjan. It sources ingredients from a network of female farmers, including locally sourced shea and cocoa butter and palm kernel oil.

About the investor

The deal is Barka's second organic cosmetics investment since March. Its first was a $1 million round for Ghana-based Lyvv Cosmetics. Barka is raising a targeted $20 million fund, and it described the deal as exactly what the fund is built to back: founder-led, locally rooted and internationally competitive.
