Jumo has received a $7.5 million commitment from the BlueOrchard Microfinance Fund, managed by BlueOrchard Finance Ltd, a member of the Schroders Group. Jumo announced the deal in a press release dated 19 November 2025. The money supports the asset-backed securitisation structure behind its Uganda lending, which was first announced in June 2024.
How the structure works
Standard Bank is the sole arranger and senior lender on the securitisation. The funding pays for local-currency lending in Uganda on more favourable terms, with a focus on first-time borrowers. The partners plan to replicate the model in other African markets. More than 4 million Ugandan clients are expected to benefit from the structure.
