Gozem, the Francophone super-app for ride-hailing and delivery, is set to receive up to about $24.5 million in debt financing from the IFC, Launchbase Africa reported on 28 April. The package is up to 21 million euros and had not been finalised at the time of publication. It has three parts: a senior loan of up to 8 million euros from IFC's own balance sheet, a subordinated loan of up to 8 million euros from the IDA21 Private Sector Window Blended Finance Facility and IFC's Concessional Capital Window, and about 5 million euros that IFC expects to mobilise from other lenders.

What Gozem does

Gozem runs ride-hailing and delivery in West and Central Africa. Its Gozem Financing arm sells vehicles to drivers on instalments under a model called Drive-to-Buy, and Gozem Money offers digital banking. It is based in Lomé and was co-founded by Raphael Dana and Gregory Costamagna.

Scale and markets

The company operates in Togo, Benin, Gabon, Cameroon and the Republic of Congo, which it added in November 2025. It handles about one million trips a month and has financed more than 7,000 vehicles, a total outlay of about $20 million. It plans to enter Côte d'Ivoire by the end of 2026.

Use of funds

The money is earmarked for fleet expansion in Benin, Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and Togo between 2026 and 2028. "Our main client is the professional driver," said co-founder Gregory Costamagna.
