Eyone, the Senegalese health technology company also known as Eyone Medical, has received 1 billion CFA francs, about $1.7 million, in new capital from Oyass Capital, Launch Base Africa reported on 27 February. The money is an additional tranche following an earlier one. Oyass Capital's total commitment to Eyone now stands at about 1.7 billion CFA francs, or roughly $3 million.

Who is behind the fund

Oyass Capital is backed by Senegal's sovereign wealth fund FONSIS, the World Bank, KfW of Germany and the Government of Senegal, and is managed by the US-based private equity firm SEAF. Sonatel invested in an earlier $1 million round through its Venture Innovation Fund.

What Eyone builds

Eyone makes interoperable software that lets clinics and hospitals share patient data securely in real time, creating a single digital profile for authorised providers. Its work supports Senegal's Shared Single Patient Record, a state-led digitisation initiative. Henri Ousmane Gueye and John Diatta founded the company in 2015, and Gueye is chief executive. It has more than 60 clients, including Sonatel.

Plans

The company is based in Dakar and also operates in Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon and Gabon. The funding will upgrade its technical infrastructure for higher national traffic, build AI tools such as predictive diagnostics and automated administration, and support geographic expansion.
