Cybervergent, a Lagos-based cybersecurity company, has raised a $3 million Seed round, Launch Base Africa reported on 6 March. The round was co-led by Ventures Platform and Atlantica Ventures, both Nigerian-owned venture firms focused on emerging markets.

The platform

Cybervergent offers an AI-native platform for security posture management and governance orchestration. It helps organisations monitor and improve their security and regulatory compliance in real time. The company began in 2012 under the name Infoprive. Adetokunbo Omotosho is co-founder and CEO, and he previously led cybersecurity at Interswitch.

Customers and automation

The company says it has more than 150 enterprise customers. Its platform cross-maps more than 4,500 regulatory and security controls across different frameworks. Cybervergent claims automation makes compliance, risk, audit and data security work up to 70% faster. It sells in West, East and Southern Africa.

Plans for the funding

Part of the money will go on regional expansion, including infrastructure that follows local data residency laws. The rest will fund product development, with deeper governance automation and stronger risk orchestration on the roadmap.
