Startup Researcher reported on 25 November that Launch Africa has added Clarrio.ai to its Fund II portfolio. The amount was not disclosed.
What the company does
Clarrio.ai, formerly known as Knowlepsy, builds a real-world evidence platform for chronic disease management. It combines data from more than 300 connected devices, electronic health records and daily-life inputs into one clinical intelligence layer. The platform is device-agnostic, working with major wearables and connected health devices, and integrates with hospital systems through FHIR and HL7. The company aims to capture the 98 percent of a patient's life that clinicians usually do not see. Startup Researcher describes its data as Africa's first large-scale chronic disease dataset.
Results and markets
In pilot studies with epilepsy patients, the company reports 34 percent fewer hospitalisations, 32 percent fewer seizures and a 45 percent return-to-work rate. The partnership is meant to support growth across Africa, the Gulf region and other international markets.
