Anda has received an equity investment from Proparco, part of Groupe Agence Française de Développement, Proparco announced on 26 June. The amount was not disclosed.

What Anda does

Anda is a Luanda-based mobility and fintech company that helps informal transport operators join the formal economy. It supplies motorcycles, tuktuks and cars to drivers, mainly through drive-to-own and subscription models. Drivers train through Anda Academy and are insured by licensed partners. Passengers book vetted driver-partners through a mobile app, and a B2B delivery service called Anda Express completes the line-up. Sérgio Tati and Joerg Nuehrmann founded the company in 2022, and Tati is chief executive.

Traction and plans

About 2,000 Anda vehicles operate in Luanda, and drivers earn roughly three times what they made in the informal sector. Angola's moto-taxi sector employs an estimated 1.2 million drivers, around 600,000 of them in Luanda. The funding will strengthen technology, grow the driver network and coverage, and continue fleet electrification, including battery swap and charging infrastructure. The first Energy Hub, built with Sonangol, was scheduled to open in June 2026 at a central Sonangol service station in Luanda. Johann Choux, regional director for Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean at Proparco, said: "we are committed to supporting African entrepreneurs".
