Launchbase Africa reported on 3 November that Anda has raised a seed round of $3.4 million, or 3 million euros. The European venture capital firms Breega and Speedinvest co-led the round.
What the company does
Anda is building a technology platform to formalise Angola's motorcycle taxi industry. Drivers get drive-to-own asset financing and repay their motorcycles through platform earnings. Customers can use a ride-hailing and delivery service, and Anda has built its own backend and ride-hailing app, which handles digital payments and lets drivers manage their loans. Drivers also receive training, certification, insurance and safety equipment, along with add-ons such as GPS tracking. Sergio Tati and Joerg Nuehrmann founded the company in 2022, and it is based in Luanda.
Market and plans
Launchbase Africa estimates Angola has 1.2 million motorcycle taxi drivers, 600,000 of them in Luanda, and says Anda puts the country's two-wheeler market at $5 billion. The money will be used to grow the motorcycle fleet, develop the technology platform and formalise the mobility ecosystem before the company explores further expansion.
