3C Coding School has raised $3 million in a seed round to take its coding and AI education programmes into Saudi Arabia, Wamda reported on 2 September. The equity round was led by MRG Economic Group, headed by Mahmoud Ramadan, with Amr Saad and several strategic angel investors also taking part.
Teaching children to build
Founded in 2015 by engineers Hossam Hosny and Ahmed Khallaf, 3C teaches technology to children and young people. Its tracks cover software development, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, game development and cybersecurity. Teaching is project-based and hands-on, so students build real projects rather than only learning code syntax.
The company has taught more than 120,000 students and reports revenue growth of 230%.
The Saudi move
The new capital will fund 3C's entry into Saudi Arabia, the first step in a wider plan to expand across the Middle East. The company will also strengthen its technology infrastructure and develop an AI-powered personalised learning platform that adapts to each student.
Hosny said the company does not see the next phase "as simple geographic expansion", pointing to the new learning platform as a core part of the plan.
